Not really. It’s a line in a Tori song. I can not wait until her new album comes out. Her newest single Welcome to England is amazing. Love it. Love her.
So yeah, your popculture pal has just been laid off.
Fifteen people from my company were laid off (at once), which is 25 percent of my company. Yikes. So yeah, I’m at home and now have plenty of time to blog. Right now I am job searching and trying to get some babysitting, dog/cat sitting, dog walking gigs. But I don’t have a car. So if you live in the city (Chicago) let me know. I’m in Lakeview. I charge $10 an hour. Maybe a wee bit more if there are more kids and they are older. I have experience with infants and special needs children. Hit me up in the comment section if you need a sitter or have a friend that needs a sitter. I have references!
Anyways…Oh Lost. Thank you for giving us answers we already knew. But love seeing Daniel Farraday and his craziness back on my screen. Miles, just admit to Marvin that you are his son. He will believe you and also maybe do something cool with dual bunnies.
Have some pics to post but will do that later as I gotta get moving with my day. I feel like such a bum. I don’t think it has fully sunk in yet that I am unemployed. Oy. Positive thoughs. And chocolate. Will help me get through this.

Trying out some new formats…let me know what you think. Thx
Anyways…before I get into a Friday recap-type thing, let me first say that last night my friend Stef and I went to see a taping of the NPR show: Wait…Wait Don’t Tell Me! It was hilarious. Peter Sagel and Carl Kasell are not at all like I pictured them. But we did get pictures with them! Sadly, Mo Rocca was not on the panel, we had Tom Bodet, Kyrie O’Conner, and Roy Blunt Jr., (of the Motel 6 “we’ll keep the lights on”) and they were great. Kyrie was amazing at the lightening round! She really knew her stuff, but then again she does work at a newspaper. Monica Seles was the phone-in guest. She was funny, who knew! And of course they all wanted to her to grunt! haha
So new Friday Format…
Dirty Secret of the Week: I really like Miley’s song Hoedown Throwdown from the Hannah Montana movie.
Book: Scarlett, sequel to Gone With the Wind by Alexandra Ripley
Actor o’ the Moment: Nathan Fillion
Songs in Rotation: Daniel (Bat for Lashes), Ghost (Ladytron), Talk S**t (Millionaires), Welcome to England (Tori Amos), Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked (Cage the Elephant), Me & My Uke (NeverShoutNever!), Don’t Trust Me (3OH!3), Quicksand (La Roux), Everything I Ask For (The Main), Drop the Girl (Hit the Lights)
TV Show: Castle
Trend: high-wasted skirts
Alrighty…today after work I’m picking up my new glasses and then heading home to watch Prison Break and Dollhouse. Tomorrow seeing Joseph with the family at the Marriott…I heart that musical.
Picture post coming soon…

Hello! SO I am so excited since the weather outside is no longer frightful but sunny and warm-ish. I love the 60s-70s weather. Plus, Ravinia tix went on sale today!! I heart Ravinia. So far, I just bought the high-demand shows, so I’m going to Indigo Girls, Steve Miller, and Carrie Underwood! There are other ones I plan to go to with my family but we can get those any time since they aren’t the “rock” concerts.
Anywaysssss, Mike and I went to the Cubs home opener on Monday. It was fun for about 2.5 seconds. We had bleacher seats so got there at like 12:40ish for a 1:20 game, which was delayed until 2:30. And why oh why did they have to announce every player on each team. I mean seriously. We were both beyond bundled up and had awesome Cubs ponchoes, but alas, my toes were frozen despite my two pairs of socks. I blame the Hunter rainboots for basically cutting off my circulation. Once we walked home my feet felt better (although itchy for a while yuck). I love the rainboots, but really, please make them for people who have calves. Seriously though, are those boots loose on everyone but me? Is it because I am short and they fit me wrong?
Tuesday I went out with a group of grrrrls to Rockit for Jenna’s b-day! It was really fun. And her sister brought Kosher for Passover banana cake from Deerfields, which was delish. Tomorrow night Mike and I are meeting Arie, etc. out for dinner for his b-day and then Saturday we are having our NOW board social event at Juana’s. I’m excited to hang out with everyone on a social level, rather than all business. Next week is super busy with a board meeting, book club outing, going to see Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! and then Joseph on Saturday night and maybe the Rock Away Violence concert on Sunday. But probably not. I will need a break because then the following Tuesday, its Flight of the Conchords! I am soooooo excited. Even though I am still slightly depressed over Jemaine’s marriage and baby. Sadness. I heart Jemaine.
So my one minor beef of the day…Burger King cut a commercial the other day because it was offensive to Mexicans. SO last night while watching Models, I see a commercial for BK…with a bunch of people with squares in their pants singing “I like square butts” to the tune of “I like big butts.” And it was a promotion for KIDS meals. Um, I get the Spongebob idea but really, the original song is about a man who likes to sing about giant asses and take them home and well you know. It so does not belong on a commercial for a children’s toy. Oy.
So what does everyone think about Parks and Recreation? I enjoyed the pilot episode. And also, please start watching Castle and Dollhouse so that my two new fav shows do not get canceled. Kay, thx.

Oh Lauren Conrad. Please never wear that red lipstick again. It was awful. Or at least blot and use a gloss over it. Just not your color babe. And loved your snippiness with She-Pratt. I think you need to dump her and listen to Brody Bromance on this one. She is a manipulating ding bat. But really, I can’t wait for his fake hook-up with Audrina next week and your fake invitation to Speidi’s fake wedding! I heart The Hills. And here is today’s don’t- judge-me-revelation …I really like the two new songs that Heidi released. Especially Your Love Found Me. Seriously. It’s cute and catchy and doesn’t suck.
Anyways…tonight is the first night of Passover. I’m going to my sister’s in-laws and then tomorrow is my dad’s. Then this weekend is catch up on tv and clean. Friday Mike and I might see Adventureland, but I heard it sucked but people who I totally trust (i.e. Trent from pinkisthenewblog). So now I’m iffy on it. Maybe we will just go shopping for his b-day present from me, new sunglasses. Saturday I am hoping to watch Rachel Getting Married. I have been wanting to see it for ever. And then Monday…y’all know where I will be. Bleachers at Wrigley! Probably in 800 layers. I can take the cold and the clouds just no rain please. And also, since Mark DeRosa was traded, I totally don’t have a baseball boyfriend. I need a new one. Maybe Theriot? But mostly because his name spells “The Riot.” Awesome. I’m sure he is beyond sick of people telling him that.
And for my feminist preach of the day…every one must…Speak Out to Overturn Dangerous HHS Refusal Rule! Please visit the NOW Web site for more details on what this is and how you can help. And make sure to go ASAP since the deadline is tomorrow!

Hello hello! So it’s raining and snowing (snaining, if you will) tonight. But it’s April in Chicago so I’m all that surprised. It supposed to be in the 50s this weekend and next Monday as well for Cubbies opening day, which I am going to! Woo! Sitting in the bleachers. Hit me up if you are going. But no beer, Passover…plus I have a NOW exec meeting that evening so yeah. Anyways, this weekend was fun. Friday night I stayed in and watched Dollhouse (awesome, although the previews made it out to be something totally different) and then I watched Mamma Mia. I thought it was super cute. Pierce Brosnen can not sing though. But I thought that Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried were great. Was AS actually singing? And it made me want to go to Greece like right now. How awesome would it to be to live (for permanently but for a while) in that amazing hotel? However, I get sea sick so taking boats to get to the main city, not really my thing. But anyways, so now from Netflix I have the last disc of season 2 of HIMYM and Rachel Getting Married. I am excited for both.
Right now I am listening to Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks (randomly selecting music on my Ipod) and probably going to make some popcorn and read. I was planning to get into that series Kings, but kept forgetting. Will have to catch up when it comes out on DVD.
Speaking of tv…um, hi, Life on Mars (U.S. version) what was with that craptastic ending you gave us? Seriously. It was all a dream Sam Tyler of 2035 was having as he slept in a pod on his way to Mars? Only to find out that he never even was in 2008 to begin with it. It was awful. And Gene (Major Tom, yes the David Bowie references were OOC) was his dad? So since he slept with Gene’s daughter in his “dream” does that mean he slept with his sister, because um, ick. But yeah, I felt like I invested way too much in that series to have that ending. I think it could have ended after we saw Sam reading to an older Annie. And have her have some sort of recognition after he leaves of who she is. That would have worked for me. Or kept it the same as the British version. Something.
Onto Lost…last week’s episode was eh, the last 10 minutes between Ben and Locke were once again purse awesomeness and Ben didn’t even SAY anything. I bet since he wakes up right after the Losties in the past take him to Richard for help (where he apparently will lose his innocence, um ok, sure) that he finally remembers that he actually new all the Losties before. But now he wants judgment? Does this mean that we get to finally meet Jacob? Have we met Jacob yet? Where is Claire? (Aside from staring in some Nora Robert’s Lifetime movie) Is she really not coming back until next season? And the babies, aren’t they important? I watch such weird tv shows.
But everyone needs to watch Castle. Nathan Fillion is pure gold and his character is made of win.
So I’m sure I’m going to have 1000 teenie boppers throwing things at me (if that many or any at all even read this blog) but I do not get the appeal of Trace Cyrus. At. all. I’m sure he is a very nice guy but he just does not do it for me. I do like Metro Station though. And speaking of the Cyruses (Cyri?), don’t judge me, but the Hannah Montana movie looks super cute. I sort of not so secretly want to see that. And also that movie with Jennifer Garner and Owen Wilson. I forgot the title but something about visitng ex girlfriends. Oh and Adventureland.
Welly, welly, welly, welly, well, this is very long. Moved on to Sia. Need to go see who won Hedsor Hall.
