Ready Set Go!

Bonjour! So firstly, this past Saturday I went out to celebrate my friend Sam’s 30th with some karaoke. It was fun. Although the place was totally awesome and super shady all at once. I want to say it was past West Rogers Park…it was this little Korean joint, the kind of place where your group gets their own room. And when you press a button the waiter comes to take your order and then the drinks come out of nowhere (I did not see a bar). I’m pretty sure it used to be a brothel. But either way, it was still really fun. I sang Mmm Bop, Proud Mary, and Ice Ice Baby. The best is that, when you aren’t singing, they show random scenes from cities and towns all over the world on the screen. It was a great group of people! Including April, who totally talked to me on the phone the night before when I was re-filling a prescription at Walgreen’s! She is my pharmacist! Small world.

Anyways, so Sunday I finally saw the movie “Tu Wong Fu, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar.” And it? WAS AWESOME. I heart all things relating to drag queens and drag queens themselves. They always seem to be such amazing people. Anyways, Patrick Swayze made one fierce queen. Wesley Snipes was hysterical. And John Leguaizamo was just a doll as Miss Chi Chi. The movie overall is about acceptance, and it made me laugh and cry. And I think I need to own it. Next on my list are Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

So I’m going to do a little contest soon. It will be about beauty and the winner will get a little something from Benefit and two runners up will also get a little something from Benefit or Sephora. I haven’t worked it all out yet. But I will!!

How good was Dollhouse last week and 24 last night? Gossip Girl though? Do not even get me started. But I wanted every outfit. I want a Missoni dress.

So now, I leave you with these…

 Fierce.

Come over here…let me show you what I’ve got

Just got home from babysitting. Made some popcorn and am about to watch yesterday’s Life on Mars. Next week is the last episode! Just watched the rest of The Office. I am interested to see where this storyline goes. And for Ryan’s return. And blonde hair. Random. I also Tioved that show In the Motherhood…did anyone watch…is it good? To I have to have kids to find it funny? Sad that Ugly Betty has been shelved for a few weeks…just when it was starting to get good. And finally, in the last of the tv realm (well until I move on to Lost), I am definitely going to tune into SouthLAnd. Ryan Atwood will be back on my screen as a cop. Awesome.

Okay, on to Lost. I will try not to give too much away since people may not have watched yet, but here are my questions and comments.

1. Where is Daniel?

2. Who beat up Ben before he got on the plane? Seriously, can we find this out already!

3. In the preview for next week, we see Juliet yelling at Jack that they didn’t need saving. Um, hello, yes, you do.

4. Please do not wait until next season to reunite Jin and Sun. For real.

5. Where are the babies? I thought that they, especially Aaron, were an integral part of the story.

6. Will we ever see Claire again?

7. Will we learn why the Swan had “quarantine” written on it and why Desmond had to give himself those random shots?

8. Kate/Sawyer/Juliet. Sick of it already.

9. Why is Sayid always getting duped by women?

Anyways, I also read today that the actor who played Boone is going to be on a new CW drama about vampires (of course, thank you Twilight for making vampires trendy). Like Gossip Girl, it’s also based on a book series. I think it has good potential, especially since tweens etc. lourve vampires these days. However, it could also totally suck. Speaking of, I may have to give up 90210. It’s moving to a new time and on the same time as Fringe. Oh the dilemma. I know, totally not a real problem.

Tomorrow is a busy day. Snap conference on social networking in the morning at the Association Forum office and then work and then dinner with Melissa and some folks from IL NOW in Oak Brook. Saturday I need to bring my clothes/purses to the Buffalo Exchange. Whatever they don’t want will be donated to Howard Brown (The Brown Elephant). And also, fingers crossed that the snake print gladiator sandals I saw in the window of the Buffalo Exchange are there and my size. Also, I am in love with Patricia Field’s new line. However, $126 for a t-shirt? No thank you.

I am the Walrus…

Hi hi! So I need to be better at writing. Everday folks. That’s my goal. So here’s my beef for the day. Have you seen that commercial for Burger King’s new mini-burgers? The one when the guy is eating them and then all these girls in low cut tops come over and are like ogling him and the burgers? I mean seriously. What is that? Are they only targeting men for those burgers saying that they look like boobs? Or are they insinuating that if men eat those then women (in low-cut tops) will giggle and flirt because who doesn’t love a mini burger? They are sooo cute that women just flock to them. Except not really. So see, bad advertising because instead of wanting to go try them (which I don’t want to actually) I am typing a post about how sexist the dang commercial is. Am I reading to much into it? Probably.

Anyways, no spoilers right now for Models and Lost. Lost was good, last ten were really good. Models, the drama is being brought next week. Holla! I’m saving Life on Mars for tomorrow. However, I did just watch the Robin Sparkles episode of How I Met Your Mother. Holy Hell. Amazing. So freaking funny. Let’s go to the mall…Today!! That show is so freaking amazing. Like one of the best on tv. I can’t believe I didn’t watch it in the first place. I always forget about CBS shows. Oh and love Wayne Brady as Barney’s brother. Legend…wait for it…dary. And Megan Mullaly is totally the voice of their mother. haha Can’t wait for In the Motherhood. Yeeeeahhhh I watch way too much tv. Couch potato folks.

So Melissa ended up coming over since she was in neighborhood. We ordered sushi and watched Models and Lost and hung out. And cut Basil’s nails. It was traumatic for all involved. ha

Happy Wednesday Night dear readers…enjoy a little song from Miss Robin Sparkles…

Champagne and cavier well-versed in etiquette

Bonjourno! Watching Models! Love that Miss Jay. But my question is, before he was a part of this show…what did he do? Was he an actual runway coach? Like is that an actual job? Someone please enlighten me!

Anyways…rewind to the weekend. Mike and I finally celebrated out one year. He got me Netflix, and I took him out to dinner at Hugo’s Frog Bar. It was delicious. And the key lime pie we had for dessert was bigger than my head. And so rich and bad for you and yuummm. Everything was great except that he couldn’t find parking when we got back to my apartment. Grrr. Partly because parking sucks in my area and also because Saturday was the St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Speaking of, since when has the holiday become one when girls wear green and look like skanks? Like is it necessary to wear a micromini and knee socks at 11am while drinking green beer at a crappy bar on Lincoln Ave? I mean really. But to each her own I guess, right? I shouldn’t judge. So Saturday I got my hair did by the faboosh Joel then babysat at night. And watched Milk, finally. OMG such a powerful and amazing movie. Sean Penn deserved that Oscar like nobody’s business. He was incredible. Everyone was. So well casted. Like the people looked like the actual people they were playing! And Emilie Hirsch was so adorable as Cleve Jones. Love him. And yes, I cried. And felt really empowered afterwards. So now that is returned and I have the first two discs of season 2 of HIMYM! Woo! Have you met Ted yet? hee hee It’s going to be legendary.

Soooo then last night I hung out with my friend Ashley. I haven’t seen her in forever. She met me at Clark Photo (had to pick something up for my sis) and then we had a nice walk to this Thai place called Bamee. On the way we stopped in at Pet Smart to visit the cats and then stopped into this vintage store on Broadway called Haystack. They have some cool stuff. Some is pricey. And some isn’t. There is this awesome 1960’s table and chairs that I want soooo bad. The whole set is $250. Its like that table that like folds up/out. I want it. But I so don’t need it, and I don’t really have a place for it. But it is pretty awesome. I need to go back when I have more time because they have some great dishes and mugs. And I loooove having mismatched dishes and stuff! Plus when they are vintage its even better.

Alrighty, back to Models and Lost and maybe Life on Mars. Ooooh so jealous that the models get to walk in a Jill Stuart show. Oh and DONNA MARTIN is back on 90210 (2.0) on March 31. I can’t wait. Will David be with her? Please oh please Brian Austen Green come back for a cameo. The Terminator folks at Fox won’t mind.

Cover girl…put some bass in your walk

Supsupsup. Watching the makeover epi of Models. So far so good! Lots of looonggg weaves. And tears. Awesome.  My two favs are the one with the big eyes and then the “old” one, Celia and Allison maybe are their names. Anyways, so I forgot how much I love Easter. Well, not so much love the actual holiday since I don’t actually celebrate it but the candy part is great. And sort of a problem. So far I’ve bought Cadbury Creme Eggs, jelly beans, and a marshmallow chocolate egg. And these awesomely cute gummy candies of cute little bugs and spring shapes. I’ll take some pictures and post tomorrow. They are almost too cute to eat! Love bugs!

Anyways, so new show alert! Castle! Sooo good. Nathan Fillion is great in his role. Like super charming and smarmy all rolled in too one! And I just learned that he played Joey Buchanan in the 90s on OLTL! Crazy! That was in the hey-day of when I watched One Life and Days of Our Lives! I used to tape them in high school. Yes. Tape. As in VHS. But yeah the show, Castle, is great. I hope though, that it doesn’t turn into just a regular old cop show. So now I love Monday nights even more: Gossip Girl, 24, and Castle.

Kind of excited to see Adventureland. Oh and also, the most hysterical thing I have heard so far this week…Paris Hilton is apparently trying her hardest to be part of the New Moon cast. HA. Who is she kidding?! I guess she has been calling Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and having her people calling the movie’s people. Yeah. Not happening P.Hitlz. Sorry. However, I am really excited that Dakota Fanning is in it. I know people had their reservations about such a big name for the movie, but at this point R.Patz is a huge name anyways. And I think Dakota is an amazing little actress.

I’m in Miami, Bitch. Okay not really but the song was playing while I was cleaning. So I took a pic of me dancing.

Just dance it’ll be okay…

Whats up whats up! You would think that with having my own computer again I would blog more, but apparently not. Here’s to more frequent blogging going forth. And while I’m making resolutions, here’s to not falling asleep on the couch, getting to bed at a decent hour, and NOT being late to work. Cheers! xx

Anyways, just got home a bit ago from the first Women Who Dared planning meeting! It went really well. The four of us on the committee came up with some great ideas and some great perspective honorees. This year we are going to scale it down and have it be more of a networking event with wine and cheese but still do the silent auction. It’s going to be great!

So now I’m home and about to eat dinner and watch 24 and maybe Castle. I love Nathan Fillian. Although I used to get him confused with Gale Harrold. I mean they do kind of look alike! But anyways, I am excited for the new show. Tomorrow when I get home I need to clean and work out and all that non-fun stuff.

So, even though the book I’m reading depicts Frank Lloyd Wright as kind of a jerk, I am obsessed with all things FLW! I want to get out to Wisconsin to see Taliesan and of course get to Oak Park and go and see all the houses and such. And I still go back and forth with the main character. Sometimes I just wish she would just follow through and not depend so much on Frank. But alas, it was the time, and a divorced woman was basically shunned. However, its not like it was any better carrying on with a married man who had no intention of ever leaving his wife. Anyways, I did read about Mamah’s tragic end (not ruining the book or anything its real life) and that just makes me really sad. Also, its funny that back in 1909 the women’s movement were fighting for equal pay, and here we are, 100 years later, still fighting for equal pay. But Pay Equity Day is April 28th, and I know Chicago NOW is planning to do something for it, so I’ll keep everyone posted. And don’t forget to wear red!

Alrighty, I’m hungry and need some Jack Bauer in my life. haha Oh and I finally invested in some Hunter wellies. Black.  Oh and I got Tory Burch flip flops super marked down. Awesome.

Boys Boys Boys

Mylovveeeey Jack Bauer. Hahah Yes, I know its blurry but what can you do. I’m getting better with the Web cam. Anyways, 2 hours of Bauer tonight. Wooo! I am still waiting for Mike Novak to show up so he can add himself to the super spy team of Jack, Chloe, Buchanan, and Aaron Pierce. And Martha Logan. I wish Jean Smart would show up, but alas, her show, Samantha, Who? is doing quite well. Anyways, I am going to heat up my leftover Thai food and go watch 24. And probably The City. Oh and earlier, on my bus ride home from work, I sat next to a woman who also is reading Loving Frank and so we chatted about that. We both agreed that it was a bit slow to get into. And that sometimes we don’t understand the actions of the main character, but I guess it makes sense for the time. xoxo

Doing it for the Fame…

Hola! So nice to be sitting on my bed hanging out with my cat and blogging. Loving it! And the Web cam feature is awesome, although sometimes it doesn’t work, like now. Wahh. SO annoying. It did this once before but my bf fixed it. Not sure what the issue is now. Sooo yeah, Friday night went to din with me crew to Rocks (crew = my sister, Mike, Todd, Arie & Rebecca). I got a cheeseburger and tator tots. I heart tator tots. Arie got this chicken baked mac and cheese thing and it was delicious! They used Gouda. Oh and their BOM (burger of the month was this crazy concoction that involved a burger, obviously, cheese, shrimp, sausage, roumalade, and some other stuff. Yeeeah no one ordered that…although it totally sounds like something one of the cheftestants would make on Top Chef or a Guy would find at a diner. But yeah, then we decided to get fried snickers for dessert. It was really good.  First time having one actually. But pretty much don’t ever need to try one again. I had one bit it was so rich and bad for you. I think I like my Snickers bars just our of the wrapper. No frying necessary.

Yesterday I ws lazy and watched some episodes of Joss Whedon’s new show Dollhouse. I LOVE IT. I can’t wait until next week. Eliza Dushku also is the producer. She is so pretty. I heart her. haha But I recommend the show. Its totally bizarre, but in a good way. Then I babysit for the little Miss Hallie. She was asleep when I got their so I tried to lure the cats Dizzy and Bella onto my lap, but they preferred to stare at me. Although Dizzy was like humping my coat since he smelled my cat. So I watched like 10 minutes of The Drug Years on VH1 even though I have scene the entire thing like 5 times and then decided to read. The book I am reading is so good. I love it. Sort of heavy though, but still, who knew Frank Lloyd Wright was such a ladies man. And the main character of the book, sometimes I love her and sometimes I want to smack her. I do love that she is totally involved in sufferage. And went to see Elizabeth Cady Stanton speak. Awesome.

This am Stacy finally made it over to meet the cat. We went to Melrose for brunch and then came back to watch Rock of Love Bus. Holy Hell. Those women are soooo trashy. I love Taya and Mindy. Even if she does have a twin sister who also is a reality famewhore named Cindy. Yes, Cindy and Mindy. I think she was on Survivor. Anyways, I feel sooo bad for Big John. I love that he actually had to tell the girls to not be slutty or act like whores since they are representing Bret and the Bret Michaels Band. And who cares if “Taya” isn’t her real name. Um hi, Bret Michaels isn’t his real name either. Oh and I love how they are all clearly (well most of them) like 30-35 and claim to be 22. RIIIIIIGHT.

Tonight I may attempt to finish a short article for work and watch a movie. I am thinking New York Stories. And I really want Pad Thai. I had some the other week from this other place and it was not good. Joy’s and Duck Walk have the best. MMMM now I am hungry. And then I will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Always a plus.

This week I plan on being super productive and perhaps actually getting my ideas out on the young adult book I plan on writing (well a series actually) out on paper. I have it all planned out in my head. It’s going to be about a 16-year-old girl who’s family moves from Chicago to a town similar to where I grew up and goes to a HS pretty similar to mine (go Knights). Anyways, her parents are super liberal but feel like their kids need to experience the suburbs for at least a little while, so that’s why they move. The main character is a feminist and probably a bit emo-y just because I feel like if that was a term when I was growing up I was totally that in private haha. Anywaaays, and she makes friends, tries to take down a pervy male teacher, and pisses off the school board for fighting to get condom machines in the bathroom since the school’s policy is abstinance only. And then there will be tons of popculture references and perhaps a little teenage hookupery. Oh and then each book will either be about the main girl or one of her friends, but totally deal with an important issue each time. Gah so now that it’s out there, nobody steal my idea please! haha

Alrighty, laundry awaits me in the dryer.

xoxo
