I can be your addiction if you want to get hooked on me…

My plans for this chilly Friday evening? Going to the vintage store by my apartment to hopefully snag the vintage Gucci t-shirt in the window, leftover turkey burger, and season 2 of HIMYM. Oh and watching that show Trust Me. I have it saved on Tivo. Tomorrow is errands galore and laundry then to Mike’s to shop for superbowl party food and hopefully meeting Jamie and her sister for a quick something then Sunday is the superbowl. Uhhhh, go Steelers? haha :)

SO really quick, on Lost…firstly, what.the.hell. Yeah. I am so not smart enough to watch this show! I do love that Pen and Des named their baby Charlie, who I am pretty sure is destined to rule the others in about 20ish years along with Aaron and Ji Yeon. Or will end up being actual Charlie Pace, although not really sure how that works. Loved that this weeks episode gave us a break from the O6 and focused on some island secrets and such. Also the ensemble worked so well together. I loved the exchange between Locke and Richard…”well I certainly don’t want to contradict myself!” Ha! Also, loved the reveal that Charles Bradford Caleb Nichols Meade Whitmore was totally on the island circa 1950. And was a hot head back then!

And we all shine on…

Dear NY Post,

Are you kidding with that disgusting cartoon regarding Jessica Simpson and her non-existent fatness? So maybe she gained a few pounds and wore a completely tragic outfit, but still, not part of J.Simp is fat. At.All. She looks healthy and quite pretty in my opinion. And oh, NOT FAT. Hello, look at her legs. And since when are curvy women blasted? Just because she isn’t a size double zero and resembles a rail doesn’t mean she is fat. This is why so many women (young and old) have eating disorders. Society blasts the pin thin, tells people they should eat, and then blasts a young woman who might be a size 6? Good lord. That cartoon was uncalled for and unnecessary. How would you feel if that was you depicted in the drawing?

Stephanie

Yeah, so I’m not going to post the cartoon mostly because I am in a hurry and have to get back to editing layouts and also because it makes me sick. Gah. Anyways, in other news, I read that tonight’s episode of Lost is suppossed to be the best yet! I can’t wait. Oh and last night, instead of working out, I went home and cleaned up a little and hung some stuff up…and then had my own little dance party. It was awesome. And so much fun! Seriously, a really fun workout. My top pics for any awesomely awesome dance party are anything by Britney Spears and Lady GaGa. In fact, I had so much fun that I may even have another one tonight! Woo!

So I am beyond excited for Mac’s new Hello Kitty line!  Thankfully I work next to a Nordstrom, so come Feb. 12, I am so getting myself some makeup for my Valentine’s Day present to myself. Boooyah!

Life on Mars returns tonight.

Also, for those of you in the Chicago area who want to celebrate choice, Chicago NOW is putting on an awesome panel discussion at UIC tomorrow in regards to reproductive freedom. Let me know if you are interested, and I will give you the detes. Keep abortion safe and legal!

Cupcakes Taste Like Violence

Jeffree Star . Never heard of her? Get with it.

Anyways, so awesomely awesome things happened last week and so far today:

1. Obama Ends Ban on Abortion Funding

2.  Senate Passes Ledbetter Act

3. National NOW endorces Sara Fiegenholtz

In the tv side of things, I think that this may be the end of Ugly Betty this season. I read that the show is getting benched in March and won’t return until after Samantha, Who? And that Motherhood show end in May. So that means it will be back in June-ish. Sad. But really, the show has taken a pretty bad turn. If you ever want to watch something that will make you laugh and cry and want to work as a fashion journalist, definitely rent Season One. It is amazing.

So the site is slow today and I gotta get to a NOW meeting. 24 is new tonight. GG is a re-run. And I really want a purple bag. Preferably Balenciaga . Ha. Never happening.

If You Seek Amy

I heart Britney Spears. And the song (If you seek Amy) is an awesome jam. And yes, Britney all the boys and all the girls do want to if you seek Amy!! :)

Playing around on ITunes before I leave work. The Kills have an ITunes Exclusive Live cd. Woo! I’m the only sour cherry on your fruit stand. And an awesome cover of Patsy Cline’s Crazy.   Then home to clean and read and watch tv. Typical Friday night. Oh yes, I am awesome like that. I like staying in on Fridays. Plus I still have to finish up HIMYM Season One. And catch up on Top Chef. Too bad there isn’t another Man vs. Wild marathon on (which yes, I know, most of what he does is staged) but still Bear is a loon!

Ugly Betty was sucky last night. The writers make it seem like its bad for anyone to follow their dreams if they still want to stay in touch with their family. Laaaammmmeee. And more Marc and Amanda please. Thanks. Becky Newton’s hair was fabulous this episode though.

Anywho, other songs in my rotation this week: Sex on Fire (Kings of Leon), Kids (MGMT), What’s Been Going On (Amos Lee), Its My Life (No Doubt), Love, Save the Empty (Erin McCarley). Random mix as usual.

Alrighty time for yours truly to bounce. I have always wanted to say that word. Even when I typed it I felt like a douche bag. ha!

PS Lost? Holy Crap. Ben Linus rules. So deliciously evil.

I Want Candy

What is up with all the spam comments?! Anyways, readers of the non-spam persuasion, please feel free to leave comments. My blog is oh so empty without them.

Anywhoooo, how exciting was yesterday! We had a ‘pot luck’ at work and got to watch the speeches and the swearing in and what not. Love the Obama girls. They are just so cute. And I read that they did a scavenger hunt in the White House to learn about history (how fun does that sound, I’m jealous!) and then the last thing was the Jonas Brothers for the girls to hang out with! Yes, they have nothing to do with the history of the WH, but who cares!  And I for one loved Michelle’s dress at the ball. So pretty. Oh and Hillary Clinton and Bush Senior were sitting next to each other during the ceremony during the day. For some reason, I found that to be hilarious.

Things going on this week…the 36th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade is tomorrow! So go out and celebrate choice! Tonight I am going to a panel at the Center on Halsted and next week NOW is having an event at UIC. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you more details. I will say that the awesome Terry Cosgrove of Personal PAC will be speaking at our event! He rules! And also, what does the CW have against abortion? Grrrr. I really wish that on 90210 Adriana wasn’t “too far along” and was able to do it. And really, too far along and not even showing an ounce or sick at all? Riiiiiight. I am so over teenage pregnancy storylines.

So here are my own personal trends for 2009: cupcake accessories (I just bought cute earrings), long cardigans, leopard print, dramtic eye make-up, 60s-style hats, and wide leg/bell bottom jeans. Oh, and I also would like a Chanel bathing suit. Can someone make that happen? Thanks. :)

LOST starts again tonight! OMG I can’t wait! 2 hours! Huzzah! And let me tell you, if they mess with my Desmond and Penny, I may cry. Please leave them alone, dear writers. And also, I hope Jin is alive and doing bad ass things. And shirtless Sawyer? Le Sigh. Can’t f-ing wait! And then next week…Life on Mars returns! Also, who watched Fringe last night? How gross was that giant cold virus slug? Oh JJ Abrams. I heart you.

Groove slam work it back filter that baby bump that track

Holy crap. I am never flying again. I am so glad that everyone made it off safely and the pilots were able to safely land the plane, even if it was into the Hudson. Scary.

So I for one, think that Leah and Hosea’s antics on Top Chef last night were not cool. I mean, yes, Ariane didn’t butcher the lamb properly (however, this isn’t Top Butcher) but Leah tied the meat and even made the comment that she didn’t do a very good job because she just wanted it done. Nice. And then when they were whispering to each other? Lame. Ariane deserved to stay even if she did screw up. She has done well, won challenges, and seems to have the right kind of attitude and would be easy to work with. Leah seems like a snot. And if I was Hosea’s girlfriend, I would be pissed after watching all the footage of them. I do like though, that Padma was very quick to defend Ariane when Toby British Judge was like she should get sent home for making bad food. Yes, she sucked at the moment, but Padma is right, she has made some really good food prior to this. And Stefan just bugs.

Anywaaays, so I can’t stop looking at Tarina Tarantino stuff on eBay even though I still can’t really afford any of it, but really, people are selling them for good prices, just still too much for me. I totally want the puffy Hello Kitty necklace because I think I’m a teenybopper, but its so cute! The small earrings are cute as well and work better on adults. haha

Also, not feeling the Posh Armani ads or the Katie Holmes Miu Miu ads.

Ugly Betty and Office are new tonight! And 30Rock! woo!

Everybody sees and everyone agrees…that you and I are wrong…and it’s been that way too long…

Totally obsessed with The Raconteurs still. Amazing voice that lead singer has. Didn’t he date some sort of Mischa Barton-type celeb?

Anywho, so yesterday I solved my “why am I not getting any good cable channels” problem. Turns out, the lady from Comcast was right, I do get their premium basic package, but me, being technologically slow hasn’t actually updated by Tivo in oh about 3 years, meaning that it was still linked to my old zip code and such. SO last night I updated that and now folks…I can watch all the Whatever, Martha, original 90210, and Man vs. Wild I want! Hurray! In fact, I just set my Tivo to tape a crapload of MVW this weekend/Monday. Awesome. I know it’s probably fake. But Bear is hot. Even if he is a lunatic haha.

So after that was done, I watched 90210 2.0. Where was Kelly and Brenda? And why is the amazing Jessica Walters leaving? And really, how annoying are Ethan and Annie. And this was the first time I actually thought that Naomi (aka Drunkface aka AnnaLynn McChord) was really truley stunning. If even a weee bit too skinny. However, this show. I am interested in seeing where the Silver plotline goes. Jessica Stroup is a great actress. But overall, I thought the episode was just meh.

My book of the week this time is Nefertiti by Michelle Moran. It’s really good! And a pretty easy read in the way of historical fiction.

So I think my new thing this year might have to be sequin hats. Yes?

Baby I can make you feel hot hot hotttt…

So for starters, I have been total crap at actually keeping the one NY resolution that I really need to be keeping. And that is getting to work on freaking time. Ugh. Part of the problem is that I keep falling asleep on my couch until the wee hours of the morning, and instead of just staying on the couch and just sleeping there, I get up and get myself to bed. Bad ideas all around. Part of the problem is that I fall asleep in front of the boob tube. So, I am thinking about getting an actual this-century tv in my room and getting a DVR for that as well. I called Comcast, and it’s totally doable economically. Everything combined with the cable I already have will be under $100. So to me, that’s a steal. So, c’mon self, get yourself to-freaking-gether. Starting tomorrow! Woot! And speaking of Comcast, when I called, I asked the lovely customer service rep why on Gawd’s green earth, my basic cable package, without a DVR (I have TIVO) was costing me so very much.  Turns out, I wasn’t getting all the channels I was paying for. So she fixed it for me. And you know what channel I should know get when I get home? LIFETIME MOVIE NETWORK. Score! haha Among others, but you know, me and my Lifetime movies.

So speaking of, has anyone seen Man vs. Wild? Well, I am assuming most people have, but can I just say that Bear Gryls (hot as he is bless his heart and his sexy accent) is a LUNATIC. Seriously. And I love that he gives tips to the audience. As if we too shall one day find ourselves in the middle of the Siberian Tundra and should happen to have to swim in an icy lake wearing only our undies. However, if it does happen, I do know that it’s important to rub snow all over your body afterwards so that the water on your bod doesn’t freeze. Oh, and when trapsing around the forest, always walk down hill, that should get you to some sort of civilization. Or, the Siberian Railway.

And now…for your long awaitedtv updates…

Dear Writers of 24,

Thank you thank you thank you for making my 2009 so very awesome last night. And why you might as? Well, because BILL BUCHANAN AND CHLOE are back. As our Jack and Tony working together oh-so-closely. And it is awesome. And hottttt. And hot. And mmmm Carlos Bernard and Kiefer Sutherland. Oh Keifer, how I have missed your velvet voice. Now, please bring back Doyle, Nadia, Morris, Karen, and Tom, and I will be one happy gal. Kisses. Stephanie

Gossip Girl…I weep for Chuck. And the Van der Humphrey story line. Seriously? Please show Nate more. He brings the pretty. And loved Chuck’s “why do you wear so much purple” line. Siiigh. Ed Westwick is dreamy. Dan and Serena sharing a sibling is not. Oh, and Blair’s dress she planned to wear to dinner with Chuck? Amazing. I wish I had long legs.

Rock of Love…No words can discribe the awesomeness and skaniness of this trainwreck.

As for The City? It’s a snoooooozzzzzzfest. I like Whitney, I do. And Olivia. She has the bitch stank face down to a T. And the DVF Wonder Woman part looked like it was a lot of fun.

Anyways, tonight is cleaning and 90210. And going to bed at a normal time. Ugh. I hate cleaning. Who wants to do it for me? Any takers?! I’ll make you some pizza muffins. mmmmm yum! :)

I’m like a ringleader…I call the shots…

So a few things dear readers. My beloved grandmother, Dorothy Stabiner Bell passed away this past Friday. She was 91 and live one fantastic life. And she will be missed. But I am happy to know that she died peacefully and in the care of some wonderful hospice workers at Beckett Lake in Clearwater, Fla.

It seems weird to write more to this post, so tomorrow will be my thoughts on 24, Gossip Girl, the Golden Globes fashions, and Rock of Love Nastiness. And my new favorite designer at the moment? Tarina Tarentino. And not just because she does Hello Kitty stuff. She has some amazingly awesome vintagy pieces. Love. Get on it.

I’ve always had a weakness for lost causes…

Hullo! So this is going to be brief since I gotta leave work shortly. But anyways, my first shoe obsession for 2009? Sue London Ballet Flats. I want the silver metallic ones and a purple pair. Her website is purty. But alas, the shoes are not in my budget. Sigh.

Anyways, Top Chef. I sort of miss the cheftestants of yore. But am glad that Carla stayed. She brings the funny. And I agree, I miss Gail as a judge. Not sure how I feel about Toby. I wonder how they chose him over like Ted Allen or Anthony Bordain. But I did enjoy the blind taste test, even though, based on some of the elements, they probably knew who cooked what. I really wanted to try Ariane’s dish. Skate with fried capers and cauliflower puree…sounds delish! And Fabio’s dish also sounded delish minus the undercooked lamb. And one of these days, I really would like to try avacado sorbet. Savory-sounding sorbets seem to be all the rage among budding chefs. The one thing I thought was weird though, was the quick fire challenge…sponsored by Diet Dr. Pepper. Which is fine…but they weren’t allowed to use sugar. Now, everything they made sounded and looked delicous, but I was unsure as to why there was no sugar involved. Like I would rather have something with sugar in it, then aspertame! Or other artificial sweetners. Or have them use stevia.

Alrighty…new Ugly Betty on tonight! And hopefully seeing Milk (finally) tomorrow!

xoxo
